Black Hills Corp. Signs 22-Year Deal to Power Google Data Center in Wyoming
Black Hills Corp. will supply electricity to a planned Google data center in Cheyenne, Wyoming, under agreements running through 2048.
Black Hills Corp. announced Monday it has executed definitive agreements to provide utility service to a planned Google data center in Cheyenne, Wyoming, marking a significant commercial commitment for the South Dakota-based electric utility.
The agreements, effective Sept. 30, 2026, carry terms extending through 2048, locking in a roughly 22-year service relationship between the NYSE-listed utility and the tech giant. The deal encompasses two separate contracts: a Large Power Contract Services Agreement and a Generation Facilities Agreement, reflecting the scale of infrastructure required to serve a major hyperscale data center.

Cheyenne has emerged as a growing hub for large-scale computing infrastructure, attracting technology investment partly due to Wyoming's relatively low energy costs and available land. The Google project would add to that momentum, with Black Hills serving as the designated power provider under the newly signed terms.
The long duration of the contracts signals a substantial capital commitment on both sides, with Black Hills likely required to develop or secure dedicated generation capacity to meet the data center's anticipated load. Details on the specific power volumes or capital expenditure associated with the agreements were not disclosed in the announcement.
